Help! what is typical wedding preparation to you?

is it considered improper to not take your mother to every single little place when preparing for a wedding? because i dont get along w my mother as it is and because i said that i only wanted me and my man to go test cake samples out, she thinks i want her to have nothing to do with my wedding...its kinda driving me crazy...now for example, i was engaged once before and went with my maid of honor to look at dresses, found one i loved and wanted to buy it. next day i went back up there WITH my mother, tried it on, got a veil, we bought it...now she says because i didnt take her at first to look at dresses that she just doesnt get to do anything..but, i didnt see a point in having anyone else there but my best friend. is that abnormal or something? am i skipping tradition or should i tell her to shove it cause its my wedding? lol
