Can i wear my cartilage earring to work as a catering waiter?

I just got my cartilage pierced and I'm a male. If I take it out it will seal up. Last minute I agreed to help wait tables at a catered event. Is it improper to have this thing in my ear? Otherwise I'm very clean cut, neat, professional, and shaven. Also is there a way to hide it? Banded?
